Muharraqi Studios’ Historical Films Presented at the Isa the Great Exhibition
On 20 October 2026, the exhibition Isa the Great, Ruler of Bahrain and its Dependencies, opened at Bahrain National Museum. The exhibition was organized by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities and opened by His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa, Deputy Prime Minister, on behalf of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
For the exhibition, the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities commissioned Muharraqi Studios to create two historical films. The films and their imagery were directed by Khalid Al Muharraqi. The first depicts Al Zubarah in the 1780s; the second depicts Muharraq in the early 1900s, at the height of the pearling era.
Both films were developed from historical research — historic maps, archival photographs and architectural study — and built as digital environments and animation, recreating the coastline, settlements, traditional buildings, boats and maritime life of each period.
Bahrain TV’s report on the opening is below, followed by press coverage of the exhibition.
